Our district, Tantasqua/Union 61, uses Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Go Math! program which was implemented in 2014. This program is aligned to the Common Core State Standards and we are excited to be using it with grades K-6. The curriculum materials include differentiated learning centers, hands-on manipulatives, and multiple online interactive practice options. The Think Central website allows you online access to the Go Math! student text and practice book, in addition to the games and other components of the program. Your child has been given a username and password from his/her classroom teacher.
For our small group math intervention lessons, we use the Bridges Intervention Program. This program provides supplemental, explicit small-group instruction for tier 2 students within the Response to Intervention (RtI) framework. Each instructional session in the program is 30 minutes and each module contains five sessions. The first four sessions in each module feature warm-ups, a game or activity, and a guided practice page. Every fifth session is devoted to assessments designed to monitor students’ progress. There is also a technology component to the program as math apps are included for students to use to help strengthen numeracy and computational skills.
